GAIN MASTERY OVER YOUR EMOTIONS AND ACTIONS THROUGH SELF-CONTROL.

Few things destroy a person's life like self-control.

A person without self-control is as defenseless as a city with broken-down walls. Proverbs 25 vs 28 [NLT]

Self-control is exercising control not just over our outward actions but our internal states (our behaviour and the impulses and emotions beneath it).
Self-control is to discipline ourselves, set boundaries and rule over our actions.
Exercising self-control keeps our enemy from gaining a foothold over us and it keeps sin from having mastery over our thoughts, words and actions. Lack of disciple and rule over our actions leaves us susceptible to temptations, worldly influences and sin.

Self-control helps us to resist temptation and avoid conforming to the things of this world. It guides our decisions, and correlates with how we show the other fruit of the Spirit in our lives. For example, forbearance or patience, requires self-control.
True self-control is not about bringing ourselves under our own control but under the power of God.

Self control is one of the biggest indicators of Christian character.
Christians who have self-control and are seeking always to grow in it are a blessing to everyone around them.

To exercise self-control, you must
- Renew your mind through God's word
- Pray for the help of the Holy Spirit
- Identify and remove triggers.

2nd Peter 1 vs 6 - 8 (NLT)
Knowing God leads to self-control. Self-control leads to patient endurance, and patient endurance leads to godliness.
Godliness leads to love for other Christians, and finally you will grow to have genuine love for everyone.
The more you grow like this, the more you will become productive and useful in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
